Northwest Living A Seattle garden shimmers in shades of white
A GARDEN CAN be girlie? There's nothing fussy about Linda Rose Cody Madison Park garden, but its intimate spaces and clean palette of white flowers are female, as can be, in a quiet, sophisticated way. At each turn, a garden Cody reflects her sense of style and comfort.
"Linda has such love for his garden and has created such a visually rich," says landscape architect Tom Zachary, who worked on the garden for five years. The property has been completely upgraded, and Zachary has developed a new driveway and entry to the 1936 shares Cody at home with her husband, a retired Boeing test pilot Richard Nelson.The old house is painted dark green to offset the new hunter, pale barked birch trees and shrubs with white flowers in the front garden.
When Zachary began working on the place, the shady backyard was nothing but struggling lawn. The couple added a conservatory to the rear of the house, opening onto a new stone patio. "The idea was to stand in the kitchen and enjoy the garden," says Cody. "Now, nobody ever goes in the living room!
