Exquisite & solid
I deep down like the feel of this desk. It's stable and the finish is nice.
The door on the front is a little askew, but it closes with a strong magnet.
It also has enough margin for a flat screen monitor and for my son to do his 3rd gr. homework. -
Justifiable the right size desk
I got this desk to use like a dressing tabular. It's nice and sturdy, even on carpeting. In person it has a warm honey like color, helping to brighten up my reside. It was really easy to assemble, all you have to do is attach the legs and the knob for the drawer. Would recommend it for anyone...

I'm looking to body a computer desk for my new apartment. I am in college, so something cheap would be nice, but I also want it sturdy. I was thinking of spot board, but would that be strong enough? Any alternatives?

If you propose on laminating it, high density particle board is the way to go. If not, go with a hardwood veneer plywood. You can get it in oak, birch, or maple. Use a hunk of the same species wood for the edges. It looks great. Hope this helps.

im inescapable you could go to your local home depot or small hardware store and get some lumber. You could very likely go to your local landfill burn pile and get enough to build a desk. If you've ever heard of freecyle.org, its a yahoo...

A Blu Dot, a furniture company in Minneapolis, Scott Smrstick designer, a young engineer, tool and die is an industrial designer, uses MDF - the material used for molding bits carbon steel - for an elegant, low desk cost.
Desk51 is a mere 56-inches wide, 24 feet 1/2-inch-deep MDF box on tubular steel.
