Designer Candice Olson turns a basement into a family lounge, craft corner
Done, Hazel was reluctant to have Jude start another project. They wanted a room for the family and an organized space for children to crafts and sewing Hazel. But Hazel was determined to finish what had already been started. Then she asked Jude to work on his incomplete projects and gave me the task of designing the basement.
This concrete isolation room and exposed to need everything, so the first order of business was to build walls, lay floors, moldings and to install ceiling lights.The couple wanted the room to be confused with the traditional view of the rest of the house, so I painted the walls a light shade of blue, decided to tone cherry wood floors and put tons of cream cupboards with an antique wash.
I then divided the space into two zones practice - a family room and a craft / sewing area. In the lounge, I created a wall feature set that includes a large screen TV and a gas fireplace raised again, with cabinets above and below.
