Story: The beauty of custom built-ins
The house bought by Granada and Betsy Shelton near downtown Orlando a few years ago, was beautiful, with large rooms, retail and custom. But it was also rather bland.
Enter Nancy Short, interior designer, bursting with ideas to add warmth and drama to the family room, dining room and kitchen.
"I propose that built-ins to create decoration techniques, but the focal points in each room," said Short, owner of Nancy Interiors abbreviated Maitland.
With custom features, "You get exactly what you need," she explained."You are able to transform a space and make it your own in terms of color, shape, details and requirements for storage. You can also add to the resale value of the house."
Short met with grenades, visited the house and discussed ideas for the layout of rooms with built in shelves, cabinets and a bench in the kitchen, breakfast area.
