Customer Reviews:
  1. Indulgent HUMOR ABOUT THE ULTIMATE OUTSIDER
It does not take extensive to find that this is not a Paterson, Fairstein, Connelly,et al, mystery, nor even a Rabbi's Wife, caterer, interior decorator, et al, cozy whodunit, it is a mystery of irrelevance, a non-mysery, a book of humor, as its protagonist seeks to find missing library books. It...
  2. the reader is reputed to be amused
The Case of the Missing Books, by Ian Sansom (340 pgs., 2005). This was the designer's fourth published novel. It's the second novel the author had based in the small, damp Northern Irish village of Tumdrum. Reminds one of Faulkner mining his own small area of Mississippi. Okay, not really....

Civil War book collection could be boost for Murrieta Library Friends

Sometimes you are surprised astonishing treasures.

People often donate books to the Friends of the Murrieta Library, a fundraising organization that supports library programs.

But several months ago, an anonymous donor left a box for the group containing 25 books on the Civil War.

The remarkable part?

Six or seven of them dated 1800, including a two-volume hardback set of memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant said Maggie Pilotte, member friends.

"I've been doing this 10 years. You develop a sixth sense of "Oh, everything's fine."When I saw them, I jumped up and down," said Pilotte.

Pilotte research suggests the volume of grants are worth $ 800.

She does not know exactly how much they are rare, but they are no longer in print and not widely available.

This kind of scarcity and the issue of cohesion collection object, has been ideal for an auction that is likely to appeal to history and Civil War enthusiasts and bookworms and collectors.
