1-month-old girl co-sleeping with mother dies
A maiden one-month died early Monday morning while he was sleeping with his mother and two siblings in a big bed in their home in Milwaukee, according to a coroner's report released Monday.
Shaniyla N. Malone did not respond when her mother, Sheila Malone, 24, woke up at 4:12 am, about three hours after the mother, baby and two other children, ages 3 and 4, went to bed in 3800 block of W. Hampton Ave., "Said the report.
Malone death is at least the eighth child mortality co-sleeping in Milwaukee County this year, according to media count based on the Journal Sentinel forensic reports.
According to the pathologist's report into the death of Shaniyla N. Malone:
The family had a normal day Sunday, including a trip to the lake. Sheila Malone gave the bottle around midnight and they went to bed around 1 am, with the mother in the middle, closer to two older children on the wall - from opposite ends of the bed - and the baby on her back on a pillow for adults on the outer side of the mattress.
