Older spool bed, fit usual mattress and box springs fine. I bought a fluffy on top full size mattress and now I about get stuck trying to put linens on it. Are there longer bed rails or any thoughts about this.

Don't do it!!! First find out if it has any value, an Antique bed edging with any other pieces may be worth enough to get a whole new set.

if you're talking about the in the clear on the end of the side rails, you can sometimes find them at a hardware store.
